Welcome to the Village of Waldeck!

Growing Together for the Future!

“Working closely with the community towards understanding community needs and developing solutions to meet those needs.”

Village of Waldeck

The Village of Waldeck traces its beginnings to 1882, with the post office opening in 1906 and formal village incorporation following on December 23, 1913.

The community’s name comes from the German word “Waldeck,” meaning “wooded corner,” a reference to the willow‑lined banks of the Swift Current Creek that shaped the early landscape.

Today, Waldeck continues to honour its prairie roots while growing as a close‑knit community.

Update Summary for WTP Issues

Town of Waldeck – Water System Update Summary

The regional water treatment operator has provided the following update on the repairs and ongoing work at the Water Treatment Plant:

• The filter pump at the Water Treatment Plant failed and needed to be replaced.

• The distribution power box for the main distribution has failed and is scheduled to be replaced by tomorrow.

• The backup distribution pump is currently overheating because it is doing more work than it is designed for

• A temporary cooling fan is being used to keep it running.

• Another filter pump will need to be replaced, which should reduce the strain on the backup distribution pump and help prevent overheating.

• The backup distribution pump may also need replacement in the future, depending on how it performs once other repairs are completed.

• The heater for the Water Treatment Plant will need to be replaced before winter to ensure safe operation during cold weather.

The Village continues to work closely with the regional water treatment operator, contractors, and the Water Security Agency to complete repairs as quickly as possible. Updates will be provided to residents as new information becomes available.

Garbage Pick Up

Garbage Pick-up is on Wednesdays from 7 am until completed.  It is recommended that you have your garbage stored in bins,  as the village has a lot of wildlife coming into town now caused by garbage left in bags on the street that is easy to shred and open.  Thank you for your help in keeping the village safe and clean.
