“Working closely with the community towards understanding community needs and developing solutions to meet those needs.”
The Village of Waldeck traces its beginnings to 1882, with the post office opening in 1906 and formal village incorporation following on December 23, 1913.
The community’s name comes from the German word “Waldeck,” meaning “wooded corner,” a reference to the willow‑lined banks of the Swift Current Creek that shaped the early landscape.
Today, Waldeck continues to honour its prairie roots while growing as a close‑knit community.

The Village of Waldeck is asking all residents to complete the
2026 Municipal Census.
Your participation is extremely important and directly affects the funding and services our community receives.
Why the Census Matters
Saskatchewan uses census population numbers to calculate annual Municipal Revenue Sharing. This funding supports:
Even a small increase in population — just 5 to 10 people — can mean thousands of dollars more every year for Waldeck.
Accurate census data also helps the Village qualify for provincial and federal grants, plan for future infrastructure needs, and support emergency planning.
Your Information is Confidential
All census responses are used for statistical purposes only and remain confidential.
Please complete your census as soon as possible.
Every person counted makes a real difference for Waldeck.
Garbage Pick-up is on Wednesdays from 7 am until completed. It is recommended that you have your garbage stored in bins, as the village has a lot of wildlife coming into town now caused by garbage left in bags on the street that is easy to shred and open. Thank you for your help in keeping the village safe and clean.
